Annette Elliot is a writer and director who lives in Chicago. Her films reflect on the theme of nonbelonging in both an exterior and interior sense. Her style reflects a poetic sensibility characterized by meditative narrative rhythms, long takes, and a slow, attentive camera.
In 2012, she completed a Master of Fine Arts at School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was awarded the Fred J. Forster Fellowship for emerging artists. Other awards include the Illinois Arts Council Grant, DCASE Individual Artist Grant, SAIC Faculty Enrichment Grant, Luminarts Visual Arts Fellowship, and the Polish Museum of America Pulaski Grant.
Her narrative short films “Fugue” (2018) and “The Museum” (2024) have screened at Oscar® qualifying film festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, New Filmmakers New York, Midwest Film Festival and Cannes Short Film Corner.
